Wow, Its been about two months since my last post. In these last two months I started and finish training at EDS. I am now working as a Technical Business Analyst. Graduate school is going well, it helps to know what you like to do since my undergrad GPA sucked, but it was better than High School. Again a train monkey could have done similar in high school as I did; since, well I could give a shit at the time. In grad school I decided to get a degree in Information Systems with a concentration in Regulatory Compliance. Other than school and work, while steph was on spring break last week, she started planning for our wedding. We have a the date down to a year ... closer to a date but we are thinking 2011 just before her medical residency. We looked at some places that would be cool to get married in Downtown Chicago. We also checked out a winery in Michigan called “Tabor Hill”. I loved it, but they don’t do weddings I found, bummer. O’ Well I will upload some pics of the places we are have looked at so far in our wedding hunt. As far as my little program, it has been placed on hold; since I have a lot on my plate. I plan on stepping up my participation in ISSA and Knights. So this hobby code will be placed on hold until i can cram it in. I am also planning to refocus my blog. It seems to like a journal than concentrating on a specific topic. So, I am going to restructure my blog to have this all in a journal section. I will figure it all out in my next post.
Thought I would add a random Pic of Bella. Wonder what she is staring at ?

It’s been a while since my last post. I have done many revisions to my resume and been through tons interviews, and I finally landed a new job. In my best case scenario of finding a job within three months I was surprised to get one within a month and half. It was not all that bad since I did start graduate school for a masters in Information Systems and well played WOW like hell. The company I will be working for is Electronic Data Systems. I was hired as a Business Analyst in West Lafayette. Yeah, Its a hike from hobart, but it would be as much time as going to places like Oak Park, IL since traffic is really bad so it is nice that I will be doing a reverse commute. I did not get anymore than what I had at HealthCall, but I am going to receive the following that HealthCall did not provide: Well, I guess it is much better than before. The cons would be it is about 75 miles from my house, but Stephanie and I are moving in the next year and half to indy anyway. So I just have to suffer for about a year. The other con was the drug test I took, they made a bald spot in the back of my head. The woman cut too much hair! Reading my last post, I can’t believe I found a position before February. I figured it would take 3-6 months. I think I really got lucky. I also Like to thank Kent, Curt, and Dr. D for helping though the whole process.

I like to flash back to the beginning of this year. I was graduating Purdue University and I was in job hunt mode, much like I am today. Most of the positions that open up to me were programming positions. At the end I settled on a Web Development position at a company called HealthCall. Yes, I said I settled at the end. I was scared not to have a position because I was starting a new life. I was engaged and needed the money to help both of us out. Today I am glad I did settle because I found out a lot about myself. At HealthCall, I found that I hated to program as a job, and found out that i like to program as a hobby. I did find that I like to create documentation, develop new ways to solve problems, and assess organizational policies to make sure they are compliant or that they meet the goals established by the company. I also learned from the experience that it is not best to take the first position that comes down the grape vine. I had a feeling that HealthCall was not a fit from the beginning but I did not go with my gut. In some ways I am glad I did not go with my gut since I did discover where I wanted to go with my career. Today I have enrolled myself into graduate school at DePaul. My major is Information Systems with a concentration in IT management and Information Assurance and Security. I am now pursing a career within Information Security as an Auditor or Consultant. My goal in the next month is to find an entry level position as a Business Analyst, IT Auditor, or IT Business Consultant. Currently, I am working part-time at Barnes and Nobles as a bookseller. A lot has happened in the last month, but a lot is going to happen in the next month. I think at my current rate I will get a new job by February. Other than looking for a job I have spent more time with friends and family as well as playing the World of Warcraft.

2RemindU, seems to be acceptable to be released to the public. I have been using it for about a day and seems to do what I want it to do. I have some plans to expand this script into a google widget. As a beta I plan to add the following capabilities for the next version of the application: Currently the Application will need the following to work correctly: I am leaving how to automate the script to the user. I use Lingon to have the script run every 10 minutes, but one could also create it as a cron job. I plan to upload the script tomorrow sometime when I can decide on which license I would like to use ,such as, GPL,Lesser GPL, or BSD. For those who care, I decided not to release this as a AIR application for a couple of reasons: The application may change if I have the time to figure out google and make it more specific to google calendar instead of iCal since that would reach all platforms. Until than I think that this script and future application may specific to Mac for the time being.

In the last month, I have discovered that creating to-do lists helps me allocate my time wisely. My only problem at this point, is remembering to create a to-do list everyday or as needed. This past weekend, I made a simple script to parse all the calendars from iCal to check if there is no to-do items (active) if so it will than prompt me to create a new to-do list. My plan is to port 2AlertU script into a widget and expand it to reminding people to create events, blog, email, et cetera . This weekend I will release 0.5b1 to the public. From that point on I will make an Apple Widget and AIR application that will do the same. Maybe I will also make a Apple App since I have seen a rather cool post http://tinyurl.com/25vslz. Maybe within time PHP will replace some other scripting languages. The only question I have for Apple is why did they put Python and Ruby in XCode 3.0 and not PHP?
